Mile 3 Motorists Express Joy Over Ban On Extortion By DPO
Mile 3 Motorists and other road users along UST, Ikwerre Road in Port Harcourt City Local Government have expressed joy over total ban on extortion by the Nkpolu Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Udeze Esther.
The motorists and road users, particularly between Adventist Church and Rivers State University (RSU) Junction along Ikwerre Road, said their joy knows no bound considering the situation they have passed through in the hands of Police Officers.
Thanking the new DPO for taking the step, they noted that abrupt disappearance of extortion by Police Officers along RSU, Adventist Church and other strategic areas within the Nkpolu Division is a big releaf to them.
A motirist along Mile 3, Ikwerre Road, Mr.Stanley Obi, hinted that members lack words to appreciate the new DPO.
“My dear, we have suffered in the hands of Police men in this Mile 3. They make our business so hard that sometimes we find it difficult to come out, but for the sake of daily bread we manage to come out.
“At times we go home with nothing based on police extortion and harassment, but today the case is different.
The new DPO has made us happy. We thank her and ask her to continue in the same spirit”, he said.
Another motorist who gave his name as Friday Udo, said,” I can’t believe till now police people along Mile 3, RSU will not ask us to roger.
“It is hard to believe that police people will see you pass without collecting #50.00 or #100.00 as the case maybe.
“The frustration was unbearable to the point that some of us were comtemplating joining another business. But as I speak with you, that has been laid to rest, courtesy of the new DPO”, he said.
