Ex-Minister Charges Youth On Vision, Hard Work
The Former Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, has advised youths in Nigeria to drive positive visions and pursuit through hard work and dedication for the betterment of the society.
Nebo, a former Vice Chancellor of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), further called on youths to shun the idea of cutting corners and running away from hard work and commitment.
Giving the advice at the weekend in Enugu, while speaking on the topic: “The Excellent Leader” at the 6th edition of the Leadership Rebirth Conference, organised by Impactfield Global Youths Initiative, Prof Nebo said, “youths should desist from demanding maximum pay for minimal job which is a sign of laziness”.
According to him, excellent leadership is all about service to others, and what leaders have to offer to make a place or people better.
He, therefore, reasoned that: “lf you truly want to lead a people, you must have positive character, truth, accountability and unquestionable transparency.
“Leadership is about influencing people positively to take correct or positive actions that will lead to sustainable development and growth of a place or people”.
He also used the occasion to urge youths aspiring to go into political leadership to be pro-active and get committed to volunteering and start doing something, no matter how small, in their neighbourhoods.
He challenged the youths to use their positive energy to influence the society for the better and be focused on “transformational leadership and not on transactional leadership”.
Continuing, Prof Nebo said: “Youths must be disciplined, be humble, innovative, just and efficient”, he added.
Also speaking on a topic, “Emotional Intelligence in Leadership”; Pastor Obinna Ebiem, said emotional leadership is the ability to consider uniqueness of others while leading them and ensure that every shade of individual was carried along.
“As a leader, you must have good emotional intelligence to manage all shades of individuals that will have to work with you since you must delegate duties and cannot do them all alone.
“Apart from its function in leadership, emotional intelligence can help in human groups even at the family level so that unique individual members of a family are accommodated”.
Also speaking, convener of Leadership Rebirth Conference, Mr Solomon Okeke, said the conference was all about preparing youths for leadership positions and taking up positive challenges in the society.
He noted that the annual event reshapes the thinking of youths and refocuses them to the ideals of nation building and development.
The conference was attended by hundreds of youths from the South-East and also featured motivational speakers.

Rivers Commissioner Commends WAEC Conduct, Vows Sanctions for Malpractice
The Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Peters Nwagor, has commended the orderly conduct of the ongoing 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination in the state and urged schools to sustain the standard.
Dr. Nwagor gave the commendation on Tuesday during a monitoring tour of selected secondary schools in Port Harcourt and environs where the WAEC exam is ongoing.
The commissioner, who was accompanied by directors and monitors from the Ministry of Education, said he was impressed with the peaceful atmosphere at the centres visited.
“The students conducted themselves properly and wrote their papers under conducive conditions. Invigilators and supervisors also performed their duties professionally,” he stated.

Nwagor noted that the Rivers State Government had invested heavily to ensure the smooth and credible conduct of the examination across the state
He urged candidates to reciprocate government’s effort by shunning all forms of examination malpractice and focusing on their studies.
“Government has done so much to ensure successful examinations in our schools. Students should take advantage of it by remaining focused,” the commissioner said.
While no case of malpractice was recorded in the centres inspected, Dr. Nwagor warned that any principal, teacher, invigilator, or official caught aiding malpractice would face strict sanctions in line with regulations.
He also commended school administrators, teachers, WAEC officials, and security personnel for upholding the integrity of the process.
