APGA Former National Chairman Returns, Dumps APC

The pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA), Chief Chekwas Okorie, has returned to the party.
Chief Okorie who was welcomed back in Enugu on Wednesday by the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Edozie Njoku and the members of the party’s National Working Committee assured to rebuild the party.
He said “this is a special day in the history of Igbo land and Nigeria and we are back to the party to rebuild and restructure our party.”
The Tide source reports that Chief Okorie left the APGA some years ago following irreconcilable differences with the then leadership of the party under Senator Victor Umeh and formed the United Progressives Party, (UPP) from where he later defected to the All Progressives Congress, (APC).
He described APGA as the only political party in Nigeria established on the provision of true federalism, self determination of all the ethnic groups in Nigeria and devolution of power.
“New dawn has beckoned for APGA. I am happy to come back home, APGA is our own and we must make sure it continues to wax stronger always”’ he said.
He expressed confidence in the new APGA leadership to reconcile all aggrieved members, stressing that “ we must bring back all our aggrieved members and restore peace back to our great party.
“We must also work with all APGA leaders including Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo to make sure they succeed in their quest of developing our dear country”.
Speaking on why he left APGA, Okorie said “We did not just run away as we tried our best to restore peace and save the party when the trouble started but all efforts were frustrated.
“I want to assure that all APGA candidates will be helped to win their elections”.
Chief Okorie said he formally resigned as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the 26th of May “and i am back to the party I belong to”.
In his address, Chief Edozie Njoku, National Chairman of APGA, said all efforts have been concluded to bring back all members who left the party.
“Today we are here to welcome our founding Chairman because we can never be at rest if we didn’t bring him back and I want to assure that many other members who are displeased and upset will come back to the party,” he said.
