Give Sports Facilities Management To Professionals – Sports Veteran
A veteran sports broadcaster and analyst in Nigeria, Cyril Dum Wite has related poor management of sporting facilities and activities to unimpressive performance in sports competitions.
He stated that maladministration in the sports industry was a key factor of the country’s poor outing in competitions, adding that inadequate management of sports facilities was also one of the problems.
Wite, made the assertion this week, while speaking in a Radio programme monitored by Tidesports in Port Harcourt.
According to him, all over the world, sports facilities are being managed privately by professionals, adding that until we begin to give facilities to professionals to manage otherwise, we cannot get it right.
“Our sporting facilities are not supposed to be in a poor state because they are built on the specifications of international standard.
It is disheartening to note that after few months of commissioning magnificent sports facilities, it now will go bad.
All over the world sports facilities are being managed privately. Besides, that in Nigeria we focus only on the football pitch and allow other facilities to die, it is not supposed to be so,” Wite said.
The former adviser to the Rivers State Governor on special duties, equally said that sports facilities should be managed by a consultant or private individuals for proper maintenance.
