Coach Blames Referee For Shooting Stars’ Defeat

Head coach of Nigeria Professional Football League side, Shooting Stars, Edith Agoye, has blamed match officials for his team’s 2-0 defeat to Nasarawa United at the Lafia Township Stadium last Sunday.
A 61st-minute goal from Adamu Hassan and a late striker from Shammasu Mohammed in the final minute of the game ensured the Solid Miners claimed all three points at stake as the second stanza of the Nigerian league resumed.
Prior to the game in Lafia, the Oluyole Warriors had won their two previous games, beating Nasarawa, who were coincidentally their last opponents before the break, and Kano Pillars.
Speaking after the game, Agoye, who refused to give details of what transpired after the first 45 minutes, alleged that some incidents in the dressing room influenced the outcome of the game
“It is a bit difficult to give any reason, otherwise it might look like an excuse,” the coach said.
“It was a very good first half but the incident that happened at the end of the first half was what determined who won the game at the end of the day.
“The incident in the cabin of the referees changed the game and people saw what happened because they did it openly.
“We will go back home and prepare for our next game against Gombe United and meet the target which is to maintain our Premier League status.”
Shooting Stars currently occupy 11th position in the NPFL with 26 points, while Nasarawa is 12th on the log with 25 points.
