Abe Links Cleaner Environment To Economic Opportunities
A Former Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial zone Senator Magnus Abe, has linked a cleaner environment to a better economic opportunities for the people.
Abe who said this at a recent interactive session with Rivers State youth and young professionals in Port Harcourt, also said developing countries cutting down green house gas will be doing so at their own risk.
Abe who was reacting to questions said the more economic opportunities the people are exposed to, the more cleaner their environment would be.
He also said the cost of cleaning the environment will be a shared responsibility between the government and the people.
According to him, to create a cleaner environment, everybody must be prepared to pay the price.
Meanwhile, Abe has said it would be wrong for developing countries to focus on cutting down green house gas
He told the youths that what is needed at the moment is for countries to evolve measures that will lift their people out of poverty.
Abe said once the people are given the opportunity, they will on their own create a better environment for themselves.
The senator who is a governorship aspirant also called for massive investment in education.
“Our responsibility is to prepare the youth and make them competitive”.
There must be a system that brings out the best in our children “if we want quality education, we must invest in quality teachers, he said.
The former senator also said there should be a system that ensures a minimum standard for all, adding that the purpose of education is to create a whole man that will contribute to the development of the society.
Abe also stressed the need for Rivers youths to avoid the Kpor fire syndrome as it is not only dangerous to their lives but to the environment.
The former senator also described the Nigerian Judiciary as one of the best in the world, noting that Nigerian Supreme Court Judgments are cited across the African continent.
