LG Auditors Storm Ogu/Bolo For 2021-2022 VFM Audit
Staff from the Office of the Auditor General for Local Government, Rivers State led by the Auditor General, Elder Friday Bema have visited Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area to carry out the Auditor General’s Value For Money (VFM) Audit for the year 2020-2021.
In his opening address, Chairman, Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Barrister Vincent Nemieboka said the visit of the auditors was timely and intended to guide the local government administrators to do the right thing, adding that it should not be seen as a witch-hunt to bring any person down.
He expressed delight in the visit of the team to Ogu/Bolo, reiterating the readiness of his administration to provide the team with all the necessary books, and projects that have been carried out since his inception of office as well as projects done before his administration.
In his address, the Auditor General, Elder Friday Bema, commended Nemieboka for his vast knowledge in administration and for being the only chairman that has introduced his staff by their names and offices.
He said Nemiebokawas the only chairman in the 10 LGAs that he has visited that has done so,saying that the level of transparency was commendable and worthy of emulation.
He thanked the chairman for the support and cooperation his team has received so far since the commencement of the statutory compliance audit, adding that he was yet to receive any negative reports.
Bema said the audit was not geared towards witch-hunting anyone but for proper service delivery to the people with the aim of correcting wrong practices and teaching the right ways of giving quality service to the people for the development of the communities.
He went further to explain his duties in Ogu/Bolo LGA, which was for the evaluation of Performance Audit/Value for Money Audit, which would cover the inspection of projects executed between 2020 and 2021.
Bema said that some the things they would be looking at was how government funds was spent, how efficiently spent, how economically spent and how it has impacted on the lives of the people.
He said the final report would be given at the end of the audit of all the 23 LGAs in Rivers State.
After the address and inspection of books, Nemieboka took the auditors on a tour to the various projects that have been executed within the stipulated period in the communities in the area.
The Vice Chairman, Hon Eunice Alabo was in attendance as well as the various directors and some staff of the LGA.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
