2023: Rivers Stakeholders Back Wike’s Presidential Bid

Stakeholders in Rivers State have applauded the recent move by the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike to join the 2023 presidential race in Nigeria.
The Chairman of Andoni local Government Council, Barrister Erastus Awortu, yesterday, said the decision of Governor Nyesom Wike to yield to the masses’ calls to join the presidential race was a good move.
He said the condition of Nigeria presently needs quality leaders like the state governor to rule the country to save it from collapsing.
According to him, Governor Wike has performed excellently well in all aspects of governance in the state, saying that Nigeria today needs a person like Governor Wike to transform the country’s economy.
Erastus in a optimistic voice said Wike will emerg as the next president of Nigeria come 2023.
He called on the stakeholders in People Democratic Party (PDP) to leave sentiments and elect Governor Wike as the party’s candidate, if the party really means to wrestle power from All Progressives Congress (APC).
Also commending the move, the former Commissioner for Health, Dr Sampson Parker hailed the governor’s bold step to rescue the country from insecurity, economic retrogression and bad governance of APC.
He said the country needs a young and vibrant president like Governor Wike to save Nigeria from collapsing.
“We need a young and vibrant president that has courage to rescue the country from collapsing.
“Because of bad governance, Nigeria is experiencing religious and ethnic crises. Our economy is going down everyday, insecurity becoming the clog in the wheels of development, people are dying on daily basis for hunger.
“I believe Governor Wike has the capacity to rescue the country from all the odds, if given the mandate to become the number one citizen of the country”, Parker assured.
The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi-Awaji Ibani said Governor Wike has the experience to rule the country perfectly.
According to him, Wike is the only person that has the boldness and courage to wrestle power from APC come 2023.
The speaker said lawmakers in the state were in support of Governor Nyesom Wike’s presidential bid, and assured that Wike would be victorious come 2023 presidential election in the country.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.

This commendation was contained in a press release made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt.

According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. She urged civil servants across the state to remain supportive of the governor’s administration in order to sustain good governance and effective public service delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Brown congratulated Governor Fubara on the occasion of his 51st birthday, describing him as “a Governor who leads by serving.”

She further praised the governor’s service-driven and people-centred leadership approach, noting that it has significantly contributed to institutional stability and improved efficiency within the state’s public service. Special appreciation was expressed for the approval of a befitting accommodation complex for Permanent Secretaries, which she said reflects the governor’s commitment to staff welfare and enhanced productivity.

As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.

A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.
