Obaseki Committed To Flushing Out Criminal Elements In Edo,
State Facilitator of Edo Security Network, Mr Yusuf Haruna, on Tuesday in Benin, reiterated the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration’s commitment to flushing out criminal elements in the state.
Haruna stated this while addressing protesters, drawn from 14 communities in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state, who were at the Government House to express their displeasure over alleged unlawful activities of some herdsmen.
He said that the governor had put some measures in place to check criminality and secure the lives and property of the people of the state.
Among the measures, Haruna said, were the setting up of Operation Wabaizigan security architecture and the community vigilante security network, both of which, he said, were working effectively.
“However, we still have this pocket of criminals who have sneaked into Edo and, as we speak, the combined team of security forces, including vigilante, hunters is going on, even in some parts of Ovia North East where you came from.
“The governor is not resting. He is determined to flush out all the criminal elements in Edo.
“This we are doing, but the complaint that you have brought here now is something of great concern to the governor and government of Edo,” he said.
The Spokesperson for the protesters, Mr Johnbull Ewareme, said that the primary purpose of any government was to protect lives and property of its citizens, adding “this is what we expect from Gov. Obaseki.
“As a governor, he is the servant of the people. They voted him into office with the responsibility of secure their lives and property,” Ewareme said.
