Ogbakor Etche Charts Path To Political, Economic Dev

Asocio-cultural organisation  of Etche ethnic organisation,  has held the 2021 Easter retreat tagged  “the agenda setting” to chart a new way for socio- economic and political development of its nation
The historic occasion which was held at the Pastorial Retreat Center Igwuruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area attracted eminent sons and daughters of Etche ethnic nationality.
Speaking at the occasion on Monday,the President- General of the Ogbakor Etche,  Charles Nwonuoala said the essence of the retreat was to set the road- map for  the development of Etche nation, and described the occasion as a historic one in the lives of Etche people
 Nwonuoala averred that the consciousness  was growing stronger more than ever and lauded the role of the umbrella body of Ogbakor Etche in building and promoting the desired unity among Etche people.
The Ogbakor Etche President -General said there was still  need for planning and strategizing for the emancipation of the people.
According to him,the country at the moment was at the verge of cross- road where clamour for resource control ,good governance and restructuring have become the center stage of agitation.
“The need to critically re- examine our position and  define in the overall regional,national contest of our economic ,political architecture can not be over emphasised.
We must be careful not to  be subsumed in the geo -political normenclature ,with those who would want  to explore our hospitality ,simplicity for their selfish good”he stated.
Also speaking,the Onye Ishi of  Etche land,  Ochie Eze, E.N.B Opurum, lauded the present leadership of the body for taking the path of developing the area ,descring the retreat as timely and good efforts  that would impact on the development of the people.
The Onye Ishi of Etche who was represented on the occasion by Eze Ken Nwala, the Onye Ishi Agwuru of Ulakwo Umusalem  thanked the state governor, Chief Ezenwo Wike for completing many roads across Etche and Omuma communities, urged politicians and all citizens of the area to partiner with the leadership of Ogbakor Etche to move the area forward.
In his own speech ,the chairman of the occasion ,Sir Isaiah Choko said Etche nation was lagging behind among other ethnic nationalities in the state and urged them to  think deep on how to reposition the place and move it forward to be equal  both economically and politically with other nationalities  in order to compete in regional and national politics
Presenting his key note address, Professor Samuel A. Otamiri of Ignatius Ajuru University chronicled the various history of Etche ethnic nation of its existence  with regards to  areas of achivements and failure, adding that the retreat offers an apple opportunity to design a new agenda for the development of the Etche nation.
