A socio-political group, Kengema Unity Forum (KUF), has called on young people in Rivers State to shun all forms of violence and resist the temptation of being engaged as thugs by selfish politicians.
Leader of the group, Soboma Jackrich made the call at a consultation meeting and flag off of the Rumuolumeni chapter of the Network for Democracy and Good Governance (NDGG) Obio/Akpor chapter.
Jackrich, who is also the leader of NDGG advised people of the State to always be vigilant and look out for politicians who suddenly become generous in a bid to deceive the young people and get their votes.
According to him, “You will be surprised to see a man begin to be friendly and benevolent with you all of a sudden. The next minute the person will come and tell you that he or she wants to become a counsellor or chairman or Governor.
“Investigate that person and look at their antecedents. That man or that woman, was he/she a benevolent person or they are learning it because they want your votes so that you don’t fall prey or victim,” he stated.
The KUF and NDGG leader further said leaders were supposed to be accountable to the people and not the other way round.
