Jonathan, Wike Extol Sterling Qualities Of GTG Toby

Former President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has extolled the sterling qualities of the former deputy governor of Rivers State, Sir Gabriel Toby.
Jonathan expressed this during the presentation and signing of the book titled “In the Cause of Service Memoir of Gabriel Tamunobiebere George Toby” at the Presidential Hotel, yesterday.
According to the former president, G. T. G Toby is a humble and trust worthy leader who was his contemporary as a deputy governor.
Jonathan said Sir Gabriel Toby was a man of impeccable character who did not allow the murky waters of politics to influence him negatively, stressing that Sir Gabriel Toby has proven that not all politicians are bad.
The former president, who thanked the author for putting his thoughts and yielding his life as a model to teach the upcoming generation, urged the young ones to work hard in order to be celebrated.
In his remarks, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, who spoke through his Deputy, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, described Gabriel Toby as a great son of Rivers State and the Niger Delta, who has contributed immensely to the development of the region and Nigeria at large, noting that his services cut across the civil service, humanitarian services and the political realm.
Wike said the former deputy governor was a strict, renowned and seasoned technocrat, Lay Synod Secretary of the Old Niger Delta Diocese of the Anglican Communion as well as a District Governor of the Rotary Club of Nigeria.
The state chief executive while urging political leaders, traditional rulers and elder statesmen in the state to leave behind a legacy for our youths by shunning perpetrators of violence in our communities, encouraged them to document their memoirs for the benefit of our youths and the emerging political class.
In remarks, the author, Dr. G.T.G. Toby, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries who graced the event, said he would continue to contribute his quota to the development of the society as long as he lives.
