VC Applauds SSANU Over Secretariat Building
The Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Prof. Blessing Didia, has commended the leadership of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), RSU Branch, for initiating a secretariat building project in the institution even as he described it as an enduring legacy
The Vice Chancellor gave the commendation last Thursday while performing the foundation laying of the proposed secretariat complex at the permanent site allocated to the union by the university, noting that the complex when completed will give joy to members of the union.
While describing the project as a landmark achievement for the leaders and the entire members of the union, Didia charged them to ensure that the building is completed within the stipulated period, assuring that the management of the university will provide the necessary assistance towards the speedy completion of the project
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of SSANU, RSU branch, Comrade Cheta Ugochukwu Azumah thanked the Vice Chancellor for approving the permanent site for the secretariat building.
Comrade Azumah noted that the proposed secretariat complex was conceived during the previous administration ,adding that the secretariat will be a rallying point for members.
The Complex is a two-storey building, with a 500- capacity Multi-purpose hall, a conference room, ICT hall and a sports gym,”he added.
According to him the secretariat when completed, will add to the architectural beautification of the university and also benefit members of the university community.
