Man In Court For Buying Stolen Televisions
The police yesterday arraigned a 20-year-old man, Mohammed Adam, in a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja for allegedly buying two stolen Samsung Plasma Televisions.
The defendant, who resides at Kurudu, Abuja is facing a charge bordering on receiving stolen property, an offence he denied committing.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, AyotundeAdeyanju, told the court that one MacpetersAtegwu of Gaynoil Hotel, Karu, Abuja, reported a case of two stolen Samsung Plasma televisions at the Karu Police Station on February 6.
Adeyanju said during police investigation, it was discovered that the defendant dishonestly received and purchased the stolen televisions, valued at N150, 000 from one Godwin Depung at the rate of N30,000.
He said that the defendant confessed to the crime and that the stolen televisions were recovered from him
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 317 of the Penal Code.
The defendant pleaded not guilty, while the presiding judge, Sani Mohammed, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000, with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case until April 24, for hearing.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
