RVHA Tasks PHALGA, OBALGA On Sanitation, Hawking
The Rivers State House of Assembly has called on the authorities of Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas to take proactive measures to improve sanitation and curb street trading in their areas.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani gave the marching order during the screening of 15 new caretaker committee chairman and members, last Tuesday, in Port Harcourt.
Ibani remarked, “The proper thing needs to be done to keep the environment clean and residents need to conform to law. Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt City must always show leadership to other caretaker committees because these councils are in the heart of the city”.
The speaker cautioned against laxity by the council chairmen after being sworn-in, urging them to complement the efforts of the state government in the quest to create sanity in the city centre.
Earlier, member representing Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Constituency 1, Hon. Nathaniel Owaji had specifically tasked the CTC chairman designate for Obio/Akpor to tackle street trading, especially along the Rumuokoro axis.
