ITF Team Inspects Training Facilities In Calabar
As part of its preparation for the training of women in Cross River State, a four-man team from Industrial Training Fund recently inspected the facilities at the Ministry of Women Affairs, Calabar.
According to the Team Leader and Area Manager ITF, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Anozie, said the inspection was necessary in order to validate their level of preparation and readiness for the upcoming Women Skills Empowerment Programme (WoSEP). Mrs. Anozie pointed out that ITF is committed to its earlier plans of partnering with the Ministry of Women Affairs for the empowerment of women in Cross River state. She further beckoned on the management of the ministry not to politicize the program as this will hinder the impact of the program. Stressing that politicizing the programme would inadvertently lead to marginalization and corruption.
Responding, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women Affairs, Mr. Freedom Ejom expressed delight at the visit, adding that the inspection is a sign that the training would be a reality. Mr. Ejom stated that the criteria for the selection of women would be solely based on vulnerability, He added that, ,in order for the women to be duly represented, two women would be selected from each Local Government across the State.
Mr. Ejom further disclosed that a letter of introduction from ITF would be issued to the Eighteen Local Government Women Association requesting for their representatives.
Also speaking, The Head of Training Industrial Trust Fund, Calabar, Mr. Nwigboji Nwafugu said he was satisfied at the quality of facilities in MoWA, hinting that their trainers are ready and that the exercise would kick off on the 15th of may 2017 with intensive training on garment making, cosmetology and catering services.
