Rivers Federation Cup: Rivers United Emerges Winners
Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt has lifted the 2017 Rivers Federation Cup title after defeating Cynosure FC 1-0 in the final game decided yesterday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium.
Rivers United’s Fredrick Obomate scored the only and winning goal of the encounter that delivered the trophy to the current champions (Rivers United).
The match which saw both sides displayfootball artistry was more like a ding-dong affairs as both teams lost their scoring chances in the first half. This continued until the first 45 minutes were over.
At resumption of the second half Rivers United and their opponent fought for goals, the former doubled their efforts to increase their goal tally while their opponents struggled to level.
However, Rivers United and Cynosure FC, are to represent the State at the Confederation Cup competition.
