State Of PH Airport Worries Stakeholders
Stakeholders at the
Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, have expressed displeasure over delay in infrastructural development at the airport.
Some of the stakeholders who spoke to The Tide at separate interactions at the airport, opined that the slow pace of work at some vital infrastructures at the airport calls for concern for those that care.
Speaking while interacting with The Tide on the matter on his way to Abuja, Chief George Samuel, posited that he is very much worried that some structures under construction had been abandoned over the years.
Samuel, an Ogu/Bolo born politician and a business man told The Tide that he is very much surprised that the arrival wing of the airport which reconstruction work started few years back, had been abandoned.
“It is unimaginable that canopies are being used up till now as shade at the arrival wig here, and this is unacceptable.
“I do not think that this kind of scene can be found anywhere in Nigeria, much more other countries,” he said.
On his part, a staff of a contracting firm, Jonathan Amadi who is staff of a contracting firm expressed mixed feelings on the issue, noting that the present economic situation in the country has grossly affected the development of infrastructure at the airport.
He, however, expressed worries that the delay in construction of major infrastructures at the airport has impacted negatively on their business at the airport as they cannot do their work smoothly as they used to.
Meanwhile, a passenger who indentified himself as a lawmaker, but refused to disclose his other name expressed sadness over the continuous use of canopies at the arrival wing of the airport which he said was unacceptable, for such a long time now, accusing the Federal Government of making mockery of the Port Harcourt International Airport.
