Aircraft Debris Found Off Mozambique Shore – Expert
Mozambique
aviation expert confirmed that debris that appear to come from an aircraft have been found in Mozambique, while declining to say whether the two pieces were part of the Malaysia Airlines jet that went missing in March 2014.
Director, National Institute of Civil Aviation, Joao Abreu said on Tuesday, in Maputo, that the pieces were found on Thursday, after being washed ashore in Inhambane province, about 500 km North of Maputo.
“I cannot confirm whether the debris definitely belong to the missing MH370 aircraft.
“The flight MH370, which had 239 people on board, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing,’’ he said.
Abreu said that the pieces would be examined in Mozambique before being sent to Malaysia for further investigation.
“Two other pieces of debris had already been found in Mozambique.
“Debris found on coastlines around the Indian Ocean indicate that the Malaysia Airlines plane may have crashed south-west of Australia,’’ he said.
