Labour Leader Urges Wike To Appoint SA On Labour
The National Vice
President of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation Civil Service Technical and Recrational Service Employees (AUPCTRE), Comrade Evans Olunwa, has appealed to the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, to appoint a Special Adviser on Labour matters in the state.
He stated that the appointment would enable labour get access to the governor to discuss labour related issues.
Comrade Olunwa, who was the former Vice-Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Rivers State Council, made the appeal while speaking with journalists at the weekend in Port Harcourt, saying that the appointment will further bring harmonious working relationship between labour and government.
The labour leader also urged the governor to stop the contributory pensions scheme because those retired have no knowledge on how to benefit from the scheme.
“I am appealing to the governor of the state to appoint a special adviser on labour matters so that labour and government will work towards the development of the state”, Comrade Olunwa said.
He lauded the Governor for appointing, Rufus Godwin as Head of Service and today, he has restructured and repositioned the civil service effectively and efficiently.
He advised workers in the state to be patient with the government over the on-going Biometric exercise, adding that at the end of the exercise every genuine worker will be captured and paid as promised by the governor.
