NCC Nabs Two Illegal Broadcast Suspects
The Nigerian Com
munications Commission (NCC) has clamped down on illegal operators of broadcast signals in Bayelsa State.
Consequently, two suspects have been arrested following days of surveillance by a team of the NCC led by the Head of Enforcement, Port Harcourt Zonal Office, Nkechi Ezinwa.
The commission took the action following complaints from Multi-Choice over the illegal operation of their broadcast signals.
The two suspects were each apprehended at La Gold Street, Off Azikoro Road and Lagos Sand Street, Off Diepreye Alamieyeseigha Road in Yenagoa.
The NCC seized 15 decoders, several smart cards, five satellite dishes, several cables of wire, and three booklets of receipts, which had been issued to subscribers.
The suspects were later taken to the ‘A’ Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Yenagoa for interrogation and an inventory of the impounded items.
Ezinwa said that the NCC would sustain the raid in Bayelsa and warned those patronizing illegal operators to desist as it has a negative impact on the economy.
She said that the commission was determined to carry out its ensuring those who breached the law were dealt it accordingly.
