RSUST Tasks Corporate Bodies On Varsity Dev
Acting Vice
Chancellor of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Professor Blessing Didia, has called on government at all levels, corporate organizations and individuals to immortalize their names by keying into the development of the university.
Professor Didia, who made the call recently in his speech at the 28th convocation ceremony of the university, said that can be done by building and equipping key developmental projects in the school.
Such projects include faculty buildings and those in given institutes of the institutions and laboratories.
“I had revealed that we have seven faculties, five institutes and four centres, only three of these faculties and one institute are well housed in their own buildings.
“Our laboratories are in need of modern equipment that can support research. There is no sports arena for this whole university and we do not have a central laboratory, the list is endless”, Professor Didia said.
Consequently, he called on individuals, governments and corporate bodies to immortalize their names in RSUST by volunteering to individually and collectively provide any of a list of five items.
The items are: Faculty Buildings, Sports Complex, Lecture theaters, student hostels and alternative power source, all of which he said, would not only develop the school, but also endear them to students.
