“2016 Federation Cup Finals Is Our Target”
The head coach, 2015
Federation Cup quarter finalist, BJ Foundation FC, Charles Idahosa, has said the club would surpass its last year’s achievement by playing in the final of 2016 Federation Cup.
Idahosa, who spoke with newsmen at the weekend, said his priority for now was to retain the 2016 edition of the state FA Cup.
According to him, the club is already in the quarter final of the FA Cup.
The club, which was nicknamed the “Giant Killer”, defeated bigger clubs such as Ranger FC before their defeat by Lobi Stars in the quarter finals.
Idahosa said with the experience garnered in 2015, in addition to preparation made so far, the club was better prepared for the task ahead.
The head coach told newsmen that the club’s achievement in 2015 was not out of luck, but as a result of hard work.
“Our achievement last year was not just a matter of luck but hard work, we are repeating same feat this year.
“Anything short of playing in the final of this year’s edition, I will consider myself a failure.
“We have started series of friendly matches to put the club in shape.
“We have played Enugu Rangers at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and lost by 6-2 and also played J Atete FC which we drew.
“They came here to Benin and the match also ended draw; with this, you can see a great improvement in the players. The boys are improving by the day.
“We are not only retaining the FA cup in Benin, we are also playing in the finals at the national level,” he said.
The coach, who said the club has lost a number of players to transfer, also noted that more players have been recruited to replace those that had left.
He, however, stressed that paucity of fund has remain the club’s biggest challenge.
“We are appealing to the state governor to assists in the development of football in the state.
