PHALGA Hands Over Fire Station To Special Duties Ministry

cal Government Area of Rivers State has handed over a three storey building equipped with fire fighting facilities built by the state government and domiciled at the New Lay-Out Market to the state Ministry of Special Duties.
Handing over the building to the state Commissioner for Special Duties during a brief ceremony held at the New Lay-out Market, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Port Harcourt City Local Government, Sir, Samuel Ejekwu said the gesture was to maximize the benefits for which the project was built, adding that the fire station occupies a very sensitive position in the market.
According to him, the market and the fire fighting facilities were handed over to the Local Government Council by the state government, adding that it would serve the interest of the people if the facilities were put to proper use.
“The three storey building built with fire fighting facilities was handed over to the council for management if we have this and we are not making use of it, it is not good for over people”.
“In this part of the world, fire incident occurs at the end of every year and this has become a trend for which no body can explain its mysteries. Today, we are handing over to you this fire fighting facilities. It is our hope that you will provide the other needed facilities in order to put them to proper use for the benefit of the society”, he stated.
Earlier in his brief remarks, the State Commissioner for Special Duties, Barr. Monday Onyezeomu lauded the council for its foresight in handing over the facilities to the ministry and assured that they would be used for the benefit of the society.
He also used the opportunity to advise the people especially the traders not be reckless with government properties adding that government was going to replicate the structures in all the markets in the state.
