Attorney-General Urges RSG, NBA’s Collaboration On Improved Judicial System

torney-General and Commissioner for Justice Barr. Emmanuel Chinwenwo Aguma, (SAN), has called for collaboration between the state government and Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) for an improved judicial system.
Barr. Aguma (SAN) who made the call in his office when the leadership and members of Port Harcourt Branch of Nigeria Bar Association paid him a courtesy visit, decried extra-judicial killings and undue delays in the administration of justice in the country.
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice announced that the state government had started moves for the commencement of the new Law Centre in  Port Harcourt as promised by Governor Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike saying ground breaking ceremony of the building would take place soon.
Barr. Aguma said that the state government would ensure all current laws and actions were published so that the public would have access to them.
Speaking earlier, the Port Harcourt Branch Chairman of NBA, Barr. Dennis Okwakpam, congratulated the state government on the landmark judgement of the Supreme Court, and commended the efforts of the Attorney General and Commisisoner for Justice in brining about a smooth transition in the state judiciary, promising that the association is ready to partner the state government for an improved judicial system in the state.
The NBA chairman called on the state government to expedite efforts for the take off of Nigeria Industrial Court in the state and the new Law Centre promised by the state governor, putting into gazettes recent laws passed by the state assembly, and to come up with policies that would bring about speedy adjudication of cases to help in decongesting the prisons.
