Politicians Warned Against Spiritual, Moral Decadence
A clergyman, Pastor Standfast Robinson, has called on politicians in the country to repent from their political sins which have led to what he called “spiritual and moral decadence” in order to avert the wrath of God.
Pastor Robinson, who is the General Overseer of New Creation Pentecostal Ministries, Igwuruta, in the Greater Port Harcourt gave the charge during her church service to mark Nigeria’s 55 Independence Anniversary.
Taking his text from Ezekiel chapter 22:30 in a sermon titled “The Freedom of the Son of God, he observed that as the nation was growing in years, so were her sins and vices of Nigerians growing.
He pointed out that except Nigerians repented from their sins and evil ways, God’s wrath would surely befall them as in the days of Juday in Biblical times.
Calling on Nigerians to cooperate with the present Federal Government under President Mohammadu Buhari on his war against corruption, he said “only a man that is not corrupt can fight corruption”.
On the emergence of Barr. Nyesom Wike as governor of Rivers State the clergyman described it as divine.
“If God has not ordained him governor, he would not have emerged in the first place because God would have taken necessary steps to stop him” he said.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the church service, Pastor Robinson stated that for the mere fact that the country was still united and intact as one entity since after the amalgamation 100 years ago, and independence from her colonial masters 55 years ago, inspite of the numerous distintergration predictions shows that God still loves Nigeria.
He further commended politicians and indeed Nigerians for having 16 years of unbroken democracy and predicted that the future of the country would continue to be bright in the comity of nations.
Highlights of the event included choral rendition as well as prayers for the nation states and local councils across the country.
