RSG Is On Track –Perm Sec
The Permanent Secretary,
Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications, Mr Sam Woka, says the achievements of Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike in the first 100 days in office have put the state back on track as number one in the country.
Mr. Woka, who stated this when members of the Rivers Civil Society Platform paid him a courtesy call in his office in Port Harcourt said that Governor Wike had touched the critical sectors of the state in the last one hundred days.
He particularly said that the roads completed by this administration such as the Iwofe road, Eleme road and several others were key to the socio-economic development of the state.
The Permanent Secretary said that these road constructions had provided jobs to thousands of youths across the state while the resuscitation of Sharks, Dolphins and Rivers Angel Football Clubs had further provided opportunities for youths to showcase their potentials.
Mr Woka also reeled out the achievements of the Governor in the areas of housing, overseas scholarships, welfare of civil servants and pensioners as well as security of lives and property.
He described civil society organisations as a critical component of democracy and urged them to be constructive in their approach to the issue of governance.
Earlier, the President of the Rivers State Civil Society Platform, Mr Emmanuel Nkweke, said that the platform which is a coalition of civil societies in the state was desirous of knowing what the present administration was doing in the state.
Mr. Nkweke said that the group had already visited other agencies, such as the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), the state police command to obtain information on the Governor’s scorecards in the last one hundred days.
He said that the group is delighted that the pothole programme had graduated to road construction, rebuilding of drainage system and bridges, while power supply in Port Harcourt and other cities in the state had improved considerably.
