Electricity Transmission Hits 4,662 mw

Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has said in Abuja that the National Grid Transmission had recorded 4662 megawatts.
This is contained in a statement signed by General Manager, Public Affairs, Seun Olagunju of the company, and made available to newsmen.
The statement stated that the new peak was attained at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to the statement, power generation and transmission have been recording new peaks above 4,500 megawatts following improvements in gas supply to the generating stations.
It stated that the increase in the generation was also due to the improvement in equipment and infrastructure upgrade and enhanced human capacity of system operators.
TCN had announced the attainment of transmission of 4656 megawatts on July 15.
The company assured that it would continue to enhance the capacity to transmit more quality power to electricity distribution companies in the country.
Meanwhile, the management of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), says it has revoked the licences of 27 electricity generating companies.
This is contained in a statement signed by Head, Public Affairs Department of NERC, Dr. Usman Arabi and made available to newsmen in Abuja.
The statement listed the companies as CET Power Projects owned by West African Portland Cement Company, Ewekoro, Ogun State and Contour Global Solutions of Nigeria Bottling Company of Apapa, Lagos State.
Others are Ethiope Energy, Supertek Nigeria, Mabon Energy, Bresson AS, Hudson Power, Knox J & L, Tower Power, Zuma Energy Nigeria transferred to Itobe Coal.
It also listed MBH Power, Delta Electric Power, Wedotebary Nigeria, Century Power Generation and Supertek Electric as companies whose licences would be revoked.
According to the statement, the notice of the cancellation was posted on the website of the commission on Tuesday.
The statement stated that the commission told the companies to within the next 30 days provide justification why their licences should not be revoked.
It stated that NERC through its audit exercise discovered that the affected firms could not meet the terms and conditions for their licences.
It stated that NERC would immediately start process of cancellation of these licences as contained in the Electric Power Sector Reform Act of 2005, which listed five conditions for cancellation of licences.
The statement also stated that NERC would give ICS Power, Anita Energy, Ibafo Power Station, Minaj Holdings and Gateway Electricity 30 days to meet agreed requirements to ensure that NERC does not withdraw their licences.
