Archbishop Tasks Pastors On Diligence
The retired Archbishop of
the Niger Delta Provision of Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), His Grace, the Most Reverend Emmanuel Ebenezer Nglass, has charged newly ordained Priests and Deacons of the Niger Delta Diocese to be diligent and patient in the performance of their divine duties.
Archbishop Nglass, gave the charge at the ordination of nine priests and five deacons in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Port Harcourt recently.
Speaking on the theme: “The Challenges of the Call”, chosen from Matthew 4 ::21-22, the guest preacher advised those ordained to bring in their acquired skills to settle disputes and comfort those depressed in their stations with a spirit of humility.
He said the disciples Jesus Christ called to follow him did not ask for benefits and enjoined those ordained to carry out the functions of their ministry with commitment, assuring that they would not lack nothing.
The Archbishop urged them to co-operate with the Bishop of the Niger Delta Diocese and other officials so as to make their calling a success, adding that they were lucky to have other pastors to work with them in their stations.
In his short remark, Bishop Ralph Cornelius Ebirien advised the ordained priests and deacons to be disciplined in the discharge of their responsibilities and not to give room for the withdrawal of their licenses.
The service was attended by a former deputy governor of Rivers State, Sir Gabriel Toby and his wife Dame Christie, the Dean of the Cathedral, Diocesan officials and a cream of Anglican faithful drawn from the various archdeaconries and parishes.
