Obasanjo’s Signed Death Warrant Of PDP -Kwankwaso
The Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has described the exit of former President Olusegun Obasanjo from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the signing of death warrant of the ruling party.
Kwankwaso, in an interview with journalists in his office in Kano, explained that the former president was a personality with immense substance whose weight as a politician and elder statesman cannot be snubbed.
He said the five governors, who defected from PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) were justified for seeing the vainness of remaining in PDP, adding that PDP has lost credibility and political vapor and that extinction stares the party in the face.
The governor said: “At the time we were telling people we can pull a surprise when we left the party, it appears that many people did not believe us, now that we left they have started realising the fact that a great damage has been done.
“We have already realised the fact that the party had completely derailed at the behest of a cabal whose egocentric ambition was only making matters worse. We cannot just wait and allow things to drift.”
Commenting on the postponement of the 2015 general elections, Kwankwaso said he was not astonished by the decision to postpone the election, noting that the ruling party was conscious of the defeat awaiting it at the polls and opted for a shift in date.
Kwankwaso stated that despite the shift the electorate will not change their minds on their preferred choice.
“You can imagine how people are just being killed as it happened in Syria and Iraq, it is happening daily in this country and the PDP is still hell bent on winning the elections by hook or crook,” he said.
