NAOC Boosts Power Supply In ONELGA
In a bid to promote
commercial activities of small and medium scale enterprises in its host communities, the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) has inaugurated a 500 KVA CAT generator in Isiukwa Community and Market stalls in Idu-Osobile in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The Tide reports that the generator was backed up with a rebuilt generator house, a rehabilitated low voltage line and the installation of two transformers in Isiukwa.
While in Idu-Osobile, the market was made up of five blocks of lock-up stalls, four blocks of open stalls, toilet and concrete flooring.
Speaking at the event, the NAOC General Manager, District, Paolo Carnevals represented by the Public Relations, Communication and Government Liaison Manager, Sir Dan Onyeaghola said that the generator will boost the activities of small and medium scale enterprise, encourage artisans and also promote self-employment.
The importance of the market, he continued, was predicated on the fact that the market creates wealth, therefore, the need to provide a primary source of income for the people as well as promote economic and commercial activities.
He urged the communities to protest their respective projects and maintain the existing peace and enablement for business to thrive.
In response, the Isiukwa Community Development Committee (CDC) Secretary, Ofuanye Daniel, commended the company for the gesture and demanded for a new memorandum of understanding to be negotiated, employment of youths in the area and construction of Akiri-Odugiri access road.
Similarly, the Ochi Oha of Idu-Osobile Community, Eze Izidor Jacob Ikeagwu, lauded the efforts of NAOC in providing basic amenities to the people of the area and appealed that water should be provided in the market, more youth employment, skills acquisition, new M.O.U post primary and post graduate overseas scholarships for the people.
He assured that peaceful co-existence and cordial relationship between the community and the company would be maintained, stressing that without peace, no meaningful, development would be attracted to the community.
