Yoruba Community Seeks End To Political Impasse
A group under the aegis
of Yoruba Community Council (YCC) in Rivers State has expressed optimism that the political crisis in the state would soon be resolved.
In a statement signed by the President, Sir Daniel Ogungbesan and the Secretary General, Hon. Wole Agunbiade, made available to journalists in Port Harcourt, the group urged concerned Nigerians to pray for the peaceful resolution of the crisis.
Describing the political impasse as a family affair, the group said all hands should be on deck to ensure peace to enable the government of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to consolidate on his developmental strides.
It, however, condemned a publication in a local tabloid in the state captioned, “2015: Yoruba Community pledges support for Omehia”, saying that the zonal and state executives viewed the publication as embarrassing as the authors are not members of the Yoruba Community. Rivers State, neither did the publication emanate from them.
The group said as a body one of their objectives had been to promote good relationship amongst members in particular and other ethnic groups in general, and employed the media to always confirm the persons before granting interview, as some are mischief makers whose stock in trade had been to distabilise relationship and drag the good name of the society into the mud.
The group also commiserate with the families of Late Dr. Segun Agagun, the plane crash victims and the Late Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry, prayed God to give their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
