Edo Returnees Plan Oil Palm Estate
No fewer than 200
Edo returnees from Libya have commenced plans to cultivate 17,666 hectares of oil palm plantation in Ugbogui village, Ovia South West council of the state.
Leader of the returnees and Founder of the Initiative for Youth Awareness, on Migration, Immigration and Development (IYAMID), Mr Solomon Okoduwa, announced the plan in Benin last Thursday.
Okoduwa told newsmen that the founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations Prophet T.B Joshua, donated N20 million to the foundation to start the farm stating that the money was used to acquire the land for the plantation.
“We have recently acquired about 17, 666 hectares of oil palm plantation at Ugbogui with proceeds from the prophet’s money in line with his advice. “This farmland will help to quench hunger, reduce youth restiveness, and create more opportunities for Edo youths to shun crime and criminality. “It will also encourage those who are still stranded in Libya but willing to come back home to have a place they can be a part of,’’ he said.
Okuduwa also said Joshua gave 50 returnees N100,000 cash and two bags of rice each in 2011.
“We pray that the good Lord will continue to strengthen, enable and use our most valued man of God to continue his good work of charity and service to humanity”, he enthused.
