Community Leader Hails Amaechi Over Road Construction
A community leader from
Rumuodogo Community, Odegu in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Pastor Nfata Mathias has said that the construction of the road leading to Rumuodogo from the East West Road has brought smiles to the natives and residents of the community.
Pastor Mathias who poured encomiums on the Rivers State governor for awarding contract for the construction of the road said the road would afford the community easy access to bring their farm produce to Rumuji market and its environs.
According to him, the road which begins at Rumuji, Rumueghuor and Rumuodogo junction is expected to be a circular road.
He said earlier, the state government has asked the people of Rumuodogo to exercise patience so that when that of the circular axis of the road was finished, the Rumuodogo road would receive attention.
Pastor Mathias said what was happening now was that work had commenced on the road even as he said the contractor handling the project, Gift Worukwo was putting in his best in delivering on schedule.
“The contractor is trying immensely, he is doing very very well and I think he will deliver the road on schedule,” he said.
He further said that the contractor has been paying compensation to people whose property has been destroyed by the construction.
“This time damage is being paid to those whose houses have been affected by the road construction and payment is almost finished,” he said.
On the availability of water and electricity to the community, Pastor Mathias said the government under Governor Amaechi was doing well in that direction.
He said the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and the Rivers State government were playing complementary roles in the provision of electricity, water and roads.
“The light and water is coming from the NDDC while the Rivers State government is constructing the road,” he said.
However, efforts to speak with the paramount ruler of Rumuodogo community, Oha Usunwo Wori and the contractor handling the road was not successful, but a source at the residence of the chairman of the community’s council of chiefs, Pastor J.J. Osimini confirmed the development in the community.
