Amaechi Lauds Kattey’s Elevation
The Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has expressed gratitude to the Archbishop Metropolitan and Primate of all Nigeria (Anglican Communion), the Most Rev’d Nicholas Okoh for the elevation of Most Rev’d Ignatius Crosby Ogborun Kattey (JP) to the office of Dean, Church of Nigeria.
Speaking last Sunday through the Commissioner for Youth Development, Sir Owen Wonodi at a Special Thanksgiving Service by Most Rev’d Kattey at the Cathedral Church of St Paul, Diobu, Port Harcourt Rt Hon Amaechi stated that the appointment of Most Rev’d Kattey to the office of Dean, Church of Nigeria, which is the second in command to the Primate was divine noting that it was the first of its kind that a some of Rivers State in particular and Niger Delta in general has attained this position.
Rt Hon Amaechi urged the church to rise up to pray for the unity and peace of the nation.
Preaching a sermon, during the service, the Archbishop, and primate of Anglican Communion) the Most Rev’d Nicholas Okoh (DD, FSS) advised the new Dean to be prayerful, consult widely, be loyal to God and be honest in all things.
Most Rev’d Okoh described Kattey as a man of integrity, committed evangelist, born again Christian, and a mechanical engineer who left everything aside to follow and serve Jesus Christ.
He congratulated the people of the Niger Delta Province that the Church of Nigeria has found most Rev’d Kattey worthy to be elected as Dean, Church of Nigeria.
The Primate who spoke on the doctrine of Trinity explained that the Anglican worshipped one God who reveals himself in three persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit who is awesome and powerful. Responding, Most Rev’d Kattey welcomed and thanked the primate and his immediate predecessor Most Rev’d Peter Jasper Akinola (rtd) to the thanksgiving service .
He attributed his success to the team of dedicated workers of the Diocese of the Niger Delta North, when God has placed to do His work and pleaded for prayers to enable him succeed over 16 bishops across the country attended the thanksgiving service.
