19th NSF: Rivers Weightlifters Bank On Early Preparation
Rivers State Weight Lifting Association has promised to surpass the number of medals won at Eko 2012″ when the 19th National Sports Festival NSF gets underway.
This was made known recently by the Assistant Coach of the association, Reginald Briggs in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the lifters have been doing their beats in getting ready for the competition, saying that, an engagement such as the festival is a task that needs early preparation.
‘We are working hard and currently on intensive training and trials to be able to keep fit and be ready ahead of time,” he said.
Also, other forms of in house preparations have begun in order to ensure that we surpass our performance at the last festival in Lagos last year.
“The whole idea of starting early is to ensure that we compete favourably with our counterparts in other parts of the country and hit our target,” he added.
It would be recalled that the Rivers State weightlifting association won a total of 11 medals, which comprises of five gold, four silver and two bronze.
