NFA Tasks Coaches On Modern Coaching Skills

Aminu Maigari, the

President of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), has tasked coaches to put in their best to acquire modern skills and impact it on the national teams.

He said this at the opening of the CAF ‘B’ Licence Coaching course at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja.

According to him, the only way the coaching trainings can be successful is when the coaches impact positively on the players which will enhance their skills.

He said the association was committed to organising the licence ‘A’ course to demonstrate the board’s interest in the development of coaches, to enhance the sport.

He advised coaches to listen to their instructors and apply everything they had been taught when they return to their various states.

“In fact, let me use this opportunity to urge coaches that we are so proud of them and they should put all they have to ensure a very successful coaching training.

“They should make sure that our national teams acquire this knowledge because knowledge is the best thing that can be given to players.

“This is the first time ever in the history of Nigeria’s football that this training is becoming a reality; so, like I said, our next target is ‘A’ licence coaching seminar which would come up soon, “ he said.

Wemimo Olanrewaju, the Captain of the ‘B’ licence course, said the training had been a wonderful one, adding that the instructors had impacted so much knowledge in them.

She expressed appreciation to the NFA for introducing the training, noting that the participants still expected more from the association.

Olanrewaju said the theory and practical aspect had been very interesting, adding that participants would impact it on other coaches and players.

She said no fewer than 80 coaches were expected to participate in the training but only 73, comprising three female and 70 male were present.

Olanrewaju said to get more ladies in coaching, they had to be encouraged, to enhance their qualification that would help in their coaching skills.
