Briggs Urges Partnership Of Govt Agencies
The former Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Nimi Briggs, has advocated collaboration among governmental agencies in Rivers State to improve service delivery to the people.
Speaking at a partnership development workshop organised by the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) recently in Port Harcourt, Prof Briggs who was the immediate past chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) said that government desire to improve the quality of lives of the citizenry will be a mirage without imputes of stakeholders.
According to him, government needs the support of all to deliver on its programme to the people, and described the RSSDA as one of the greatest achievements of the Amaechi-led administration, noting that the Agency has applied itself to all areas of development in the state. The former vice chancellor however, noted that the Agency requires the collaboration of all to succeed. The Executive Director / Chief Executive Officer of the Rivers State sustainable Development Agency, Mr Noble Pepple said that the workshop is designed to facilitate interaction among stakeholders and to harmonise the result for the good of all.
Pepple said that the idea which was developed three years ago, would help the various stakeholders to work together to eradicate poverty in the state, stressing that the situation was to get first hand information from stakeholders on areas that meet the peoples expectation.
According to him, the situation would enable the Agency to finetune its strategies to execute deliverable programmes.
The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), representatives of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) and its Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) counterpart, civil society organisation and some international organisations.
