RSG Assures On Free Education
The Rivers State Government has reiterated its commitment in delivering qualitative education for children in the state.
The Commissioner for Education, Dame Alice Lawrence-Nemi disclosed this while reading a book to children during the 5th Garden City Literary Festival at the Hotel Presidential in Port Harcourt.
Dame Lawrence-Nemi said the state has made milestone achievements in education service delivery, adding that the free education policy of the Rivers State government has yielded positive results especially at the primary level which is the most important period of every child.
The Education Commissioner noted that enrolment of pupils into primary schools has increased tremendously since the inception Governor Chibuike Amaechi led admin-istration.
According to her, the infrastructure in the model schools have made parents to withdraw their pupils from private schools back to public schools, stressing that government is determined to build more schools across the state especially, the most populated areas.
She commended the governor for transforming the educations sector adding that the investment has made the state a model in the country.
The education boss advised the pupils and students to be very serious with their studies so as to achieve their desired goals in life promising that the state would continue to make laws that would sustain the free and qualitative education policy of the government.
