The Federal Government is set to host the 6th D-8 Working Group on Civil Aviation (WGCA) and Directors-General meeting in Abuja.
The objective of the meeting is to bring together representatives of government and private sector in the aviation industry to chart the way forward.
This is a platform for the Directors-General of Civil Aviation in various countries to intermitently deliberate on contemporary issues, latest developments and trends in the areas of safety, security, air transportation and training.
Other areas of discussion include maintenance, airport infrastructure, airline financing and operations investments, among others.
In addition, the meeting is expected to identify potentials, opportunities, challenges and threats of D-8 among Civil Aviation investors and financial institutions.
As a result of the conclusion of the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the WGCA and Directors-General in Jakarta, Indonesia on the 8th and 9th of June 2011, this 6th meeting will be presented with the reports on the activities of the task forces.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has commissioned the new General Aviation Terminal (GAT), at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
This terminal was the first to be commissioned among 11 others in various airports across the country under-going remodelling.
