NIPOST Introduces New Mobile Product
The Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) last Wednesday in Ibadan introduced ‘Pocket Moni’, a mobile solution designed to allow users conduct financial transactions with their phones.
Mr Irmiya Darman, a Senior Assistant Post Master General, made the introduction of the product to staff of the General Post Office at Dugbe, Ibadan.
He said with the innovation, “your phone becomes your bank while mobile number becomes your account number.
“Pocket Moni services are secured, cost effective, convenient and available to everyone.”
Darman said the product was initially to be introduced to NIPOST staff while a formal launch would be done in due course.
“The launching would be done by the Postmaster-General of the Federation.
“We are just introducing the product to our staff so that they can carry the message and sell it to the people.
“We are test running it and after discovering that it is okay, we will blow our trumpet through the PMG.
“We now have e-banking, e-commerce, e-trading and so on; we feel we should not be left behind,” he said.
