The Rivers Trade Union Congress (TUC) has honoured its past leaders with excellence awards for meritorious services to the union and the organised labour.

The state chairman, TUC, Comrade Chika Onuegbu said the award was in recognition of the support and efforts of the past state chairmen.

He said the honourees contributed immensely to the stability of the union and the organised labour without consideration of their personal interest and selfishness.

“We praise their contribution and untiring efforts in giving direction to the organised labour and TUC while serving the union.

“They gave selfless service to the organised labour and protected the causes of the masses” he said.

Comrade Chika further said the present leadership of the union will leave no stone unturned in seeking for improved condition of service and better welfare packages for its members and affiliate unions.

The chairman said that TUC will continue to protect the welfare of its member and fight a just cause for the enthronement of good governance, transparency, accountability and responsible government in Nigeria.

Earlier, one of the honoured past leaders, Comrade Alaso Jack, had commended the leadership of Comrade Chika Onuegbu for the recognition and organising the award in their honour.
