IGP Tasks Officers On Selfless Service
The Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Mr. Hafiz Ringim, has called on police officers to be diligent in their services to the nation while shunning bribery and corrupt practices in order to leave a good legacy at the end of their national service.
The IGP gave the admonition at Egbelubi Ndashi, Etche, Rivers State during the final rites of Late Retired Police Commander, Sabastine Ihejirika.
Represented by Sampson Wada, the police chief lauded the good works of late Ihejirika in the development of Nigeria police, saying that late Ihejirika passed on when his services were most needed in the country.
The Police I-G also praised late Ihejirika’s uprightness, good sense of duty, saying his demise was a great loss to the country.
Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Mr. Suleiman Abba, who was represented by the Commissioner of Police in charge of Medical Service, Dr. Margaret Hart, urged late Ihejirika’s children to be very hard working and respectful in the society, so that they could as well lead good lives like their late father.
She described late Ihejirika as a rare gem in the Nigeria Police Force in view of his track records.
Also speaking, the Divisional police officer, in Okehi divisional headquarters, Mr. Clement Igwe, called on other young police officer in the country to emulate the ways of the late commissioner in order to enable them have successful careers in the police force.
The son of the late commissioner, Mr. Ezechi Ihejirika thanked the inspector general of police and other members of the police force for organising the burial ceremony of their late father.
