CPC Lauds INEC Over Bayelsa PDP Primaries

The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its deliberate patriotic and law-abiding action in disassociating itself from the last Saturday primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State.

The party which made the commendation in a press release on Tuesday said the CPC views the actions of the electoral body as an indication of maturity on its part to reform and play by the rules in the service of our father land as far as electoral umpireship is concerned.

The press release which was signed by the National Publicity Secretary said although the opposition party was not concerned with the internal democracy of the ruling party, (PDP), it condemned the party’s primaries for the governorship election for disregarding a legitimate order from a competent court of law.

According to him, “while not concern about the internal democracy within the PDP, it is a matter of grave national importance when the ruling party with its wholesome machinery of state organised impunity, threatens the tranquility of the polity with its imitable thirst for lawlessness.
