NOA To Collaborate With FRSC On New Number Plate, Licence
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) is to partner with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to enlighten Nigerians on the new number plate and drivers’ licence.
The director-general of NOA, Alhaji Idi Farouk, made the pledge last Friday when the Chief Executive Officer of FRSC, Corps Marshal Osita Chidoka, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Farouk said the new drivers’ licence and number plate were intended to make the road safer and ensure security in the country.
“Nigerians should be part of the new drivers’ licence and number plate in order to reduce incidence of car snatching and the violence associated with it.
“The states need to comply with the directive of the FRSC in order to checkmate the recklessness of drivers,’’ he said.
Earlier, Chidoka had said that the new number plate and licence would reduce fake and multiple licences, and build a data base for the commission.
“The reason for these new number plate and licence is to change the behaviour of Nigerians on the road and to gather information on offenders for record purposes.
“Nigerians will be given one year within which to change to the new number plate and licence,’’ he said.
Chidoka advised Nigerians, who have yet to secure their driving licence, to go to certified driving schools.
