Director Urges Upata Youths To Shun Restiveness
The Director of Finance, Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), Mr. Ojo Alfred, has urged the Upata Youth Council to tackle the issue of youth restiveness in Upata Clan with renewed vigour in order to realise the good intentions of the state government for the area.
Ojo who gave the charge during a courtesy call by the executive of the council to his office in Port Harcourt, last Thursday said government was aware of the predicaments of the clan but that the issue of the demand for marching grant before projects are carried out and youth restiveness would make the good intention of government unachievable.
According to him, “prominent sons and daughters of our area cannot go home because of fear of kidnapping and youth restiveness. I urge you therefore to mount serious enlightenment campaigns in order to eradicate this problem. This is the only way that the good intentions of Governor Amaechi for the area can be realized”.
Earlir, the President General of the Council, Mr. Wana Clement in his remark assured that he and his team were poised to fight against corruption, kidnapping and youth restiveness in the Upata clan assuring company workers in the area that they would no longer have problems.
His words “We have good plans on ground to get the perpetrators of this dastardly act exposed and brought to book. We shall call meetings and educate people and chart a course on how to go about putting a final stop to this menace. The kidnapping of our illustrious sons and daughters company workers and visitors must stop”.
In an address presented by the secretary general of the council, Mr. Michael Uzuke on behalf of the executive lauded Governor Amaechi’s administration and outlined the programmes they intend to carry out during their tenure.
