Karatekas Tasked On Club Establishment
Karate practitioners in Rivers State have been challenged to establish more clubs in order to encourage youths to develop interest in the sports.
They were also told to enlighten the youths on the benefits of taking the sports as a career.
The instructor in charge of the Komigboshie Karate Club at the Rivers Tate University of Science and Technology, Mr Ugochukwu Mgbeahuru, who made the call said that the existing Karate clubs in the state are inadequate for the talent discovery.
Speaking on an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt, Mr Mgbeahuru also dispelled the insinuation that Karate game is for school dropouts adding that most of the Karates that represented the country in national an international competitions were graduates.
He said that time has past when sports including Karate were regarded as venture for never do well in schools in the country.
According to him, majority of the practitioners and trainees of Komigboshie Karate Club of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology are graduates and students of tertiary institutions adding that the game places premium on discipline and moral value.
He used the opportunity to disclose that the club has commenced various training programmes for all categories of Karatakers and appealed to interested youths to take the advantages offered by the club in the state.
