FRSC Warns Drivers Against Alcoholic Drinks
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun, has warned commercial drivers in the city against drinking alcohol while driving on major highways.
Mr Yakubu Anto, the Ijebu-Ode Unit Commander of the commission, issued the warning in an interview with our correspondent in Ijebu-Ode in Ogun last Thursday.
He said that any driver caught drinking while driving would be arrested and punished in line with the law.
The FRSC official, who described driving as a serious business, said that drinking alcohol while driving was an act capable of causing road disaster.
He said: “There is a slogan which says that if you must drink, you must not drive and if you must drive, you must not drink.
“But it is a pity that most drivers do not take this into consideration. They believe in ‘shining their eyes’ with alcohol while driving, which is very dangerous.”
Anto explained that the command had intensified its enlightenment campaign against drink-driving in the major parks in the city.
