RIMA Explains Visit To PH Charity Homes
Rivers State Microfinance Agency (RIMA) says its decision to spread joy to five charity homes in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital was part of its social responsibilities to the needy, physically-challenged and less-privileged in the society. The charity homes RIMA visited according to its External Relations Officer, Cynthia Osuamkpe were Compassionate Home, Nkpogu, Cheshire Home, Port Harcourt, Children Home, Borokiri, Remand Home, Borikiri and Elderly People Home, Harbour Road, Port Harcourt.
In a statement, Osuamkpe said RIMA’s visitation to the charity homes enabled the agency to appreciate the enormous challenges facing the homes apart from identifying reasonably with the social needs of the homes’ inmate.
According to her, RIMA’s donations including bags of rice, gallons of groundnut oil, cartons of noodles toiletries and diapers for the children at the homes were symbolic, coming at a period associated with sharing of gifts and showing love to family, friend and well-wishers.
At Compassionate Home, Osuamkpe said RIMA visitation team was received by sister Pauline Putter who explained that “the home is a short term facility aimed at meeting the holistic needs of the physically-challenged child”, and solicited for more donations to enable them run the home.
It was all cheers for RIMA at Cheshire and Children Homes as the inmates separately shared praises for the agency for supporting in their upkeep.
At both the Remand Home and Home for the Elderly, Osuamkpe said RIMA received accolades for its kind gesture towards them, even as the authorities of the Homes called on relevant government agencies, corporate bodies and well-meaning individuals to continue to identify with the needs of charity homes.
