Delta Disburses N8m To Youth Bodies
The Delta State government has disburses N8 million to 40 voluntary and faith based organisations as annual subvention.
Speaking at the disbursement on Monday, in Asaba, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mrs Juliet Agoba, said that each of the organisations was given N200, 000.
Agoba also said that the disbursement would assist the organisations in carrying out their activities.
She commended them for their humanitarian services in the state, urging them to reciprocate government’s gesture by improving on the lives of youths.
Agoba advised the organisations to take advantage of the Micro-Credit Scheme of the state government to better the lives of their members.
She, however, urged them to promote peace in their immediate environment and cultivate the spirit of patriotism, honesty and hard work.
The commissioner said: “ As youths, you have to ensure unity among the diverse ethnic groups in the country in general and the state in particular.“
And as leaders of tomorrow, you should avoid cultism, armed robbery, youth restiveness, oil pipeline vandalism, child and drug trafficking, political thuggery and assassination.’’
Agoba also warned that the state would not hesitate to sanction any organisation that exhibits any form of anti social behaviour.
Responding, the Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta Chapter, Mr Hope George, thanked the government for the gesture.
